For more than 10 years, my professional life has revolved around working with and caring for seniors. As a registered dietitian I have consulted at 8 skilled nursing facilities in Bellevue, Seattle, Tacoma, and Bainbridge Island.
After the birth of my first son, I decided I needed to find a way to spend more time at home and still make a good living. So, I scaled back to part time employment and started investing in real estate. I had an opportunity to simply educate seniors about finding the best way to sell their house and, in the right circumstances, even buy their house for them, so they’d have a way to pay for their new residence and/or medical care. My House Sold, LLC was open for business.
Even having years of experience working with seniors as a Clinicall Dietitian and a Housing Transition Consultant, I found myself struggling to find good information when it came time to help my own parents. I decided to pool all my resources and experiences to create Senior Resource Central in hopes that it will make this always difficult process easier for others.

Each step I take is a hard one, every decision our family has made is, well…mentally painful. I never know what to expect with our family conference calls because there are so many issues. I’ve talked with an elder attorney because I personally don’t understand my parent’s options. My brother constantly reminds Mom to take her medication…she was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. And, my sister is reviewing their Medicare policy… we’re very confused. Then, there’s the financial questions, more legal questions, the moving, etc. We all want them to downsize, but Mom says there’s no place for all the kids to stay during the holidays…it’s so hard to help them because they live in another state.
Recently, I gave birth to my second son! Caring for a newborn, my 5 year old son, my husband, and my parents…it’s a juggling act. The problem: I don’t know how to juggle.
